The existing modernist house of the early sixties is situated in a rural environment characterized by pastures and pine woods. Characteristic of the existing facades are the brutality and the vertical and plane construction alternating glass and masonry (brick work). The glass addition at the east-side of the house was implanted between the pine trees. The new facades of clear and frosted layered glass are a modern translation of the vertical facade construction of the existing house. The skin of layered glass without (any) moldings, partially transparent, partially opaque, replaces the traditional brick and fulfils a triple function of raincoat, security and atmosphere.

Zen Plying/Folding walls, completely open or closed, blur the boundaries between inside and outside. The untampered nature acts as a peaceful catalyst. White floors, walls and ceilings, the use of glass and frosted glass are reminiscent of celestial purity. Each perception of time and space is disappearing. Bedrooms are becoming meditation spaces. Zen is/was here. The sense of Zen.
