The quality of the site, that used to be closed and isolated, is improved by designing as small-scale as possible and creating a green inner area. A large part of the site is given back to the city and becomes a public green meeting spot for the neighbourhood. Three commercial spaces and a kindergarten are strategically positioned so that they can serve as a catalyst for the neighbourhood. The combination of living and working creates a liveliness on the site that extends to the street and neighbourhood. In this way, the Nekkerspoelstraat evolves from a transit street to a residential street. The three volumes containing 70 living units are divided into smaller buildings so that they fit in with the scale of the street.
