The impractical basement with barrel vault was opened up and a concrete seating object was implemented. The boundary between inside and outside is blurred because of the use of glass and there is more immediate contact with the garden and the water of the canals. On the ground floor the terrace is closed off by folding sliding panels. The steel frames with wooden slats function as sun blinds, but also give the residents the necessary privacy. They also serve as space-forming organ: Depending on the placement of the panels, the terrace can be transformed into a patio or a third room. On the first floor, a new space was created in the bedroom by installing a wall system in a ziggurat shape. At the attic, the non-original gable roof was replaced by an elegant timber roof with a low cupboard wall. Because of the rhythm of the trusses, structure becomes architecture.
