The existing house consists of two linked spaces. A third double-height volume was added, which was built according to the principle of a timber frame construction. The existing house and the extension were bundled by a folded skin in burnt wood and are connected by a sloping roof. The roof is lifted, creating a diagonal view of the spaces through a central void.
The integration of the house into the surrounding nature was an important factor in the design process. For instance, burnt wood was chosen as a circular material and the new building has large sliding windows that bring in and reflect the greenery. To minimize impact on nature, no trees were chopped and the volume was placed on a platform. Furthermore, the works were carried out by the client himself and the house is self-sufficient.
